Simon Hasan combines ancient craft processes with the industrial age. His Bermondsey Stool features a cooked saddle leather seat, moulded into shape using medieval armour-making process, Cuir Bouilli. The heavy boiled leather is contrasted with the electroplated aluminium legs to create a comfortable yet stylish piece. Simon has received widespread attention for his innovative use of materials and processes and has recently been included in V&A book, 21 Designers for Twenty-First Century Britain.
